Central Asia Solidarity Groups (CAG) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization located in Malmö, Sweden. Our focus is on thematic areas of climate and environment, democratic youth organizing, gender equality and women’s rights, security and resilience, mainly in post-Soviet Central Asia.
We are currently seeking two candidates for an 8-week placement from September to October 2023 with Novi Ritm, a youth-led organization in Osh, Kyrgyzstan (for more information about the organization click here) The objective is to provide ongoing capacity-building activities on fundraising, specifically developing grant writing methods.
Both successful candidates will work collaboratively in a team and will be responsible for updating and further developing the existing fundraising strategy guidelines for Novi Ritm, aligned with the organization’s thematic focus areas. You will work closely with key staff and volunteers to enhance their capacity in fundraising best practices and grant writing methods, and research potential donors. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage and support the organization in regular activities targeting local youth and/or relevant organizational processes. The placement emphasizes accommodating your skills and experience in a grassroots environment.
We are seeking independent and challenge-driven individuals with experience working in grassroots organizations. You should possess good collaboration and organizational skills and have an affinity for working with youth-led organizations. A long-term approach and relevant knowledge of fundraising and project applications are required.
Applicants should have at least two years of experience in a relevant field and be under 30 years old. Previous experience in civil society, particularly in international contexts, is highly desirable. Excellent communication and written skills in English are required, along with professional and/or non-formal experience in fundraising activities, including grant writing. Knowledge of Central Asia, the Russian language, and academic studies in relevant thematic or practical areas are advantageous.
Working Conditions: The placement lasts approximately eight weeks in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. The expected travel dates from Sweden are from August 30th to September 2nd. Before departing for Kyrgyzstan, you will participate in a preparatory course with the Central Asia Solidarity Groups and Novi Ritm. It is also expected that you will engage in several days of pre-departure work to become acquainted with the context of work of both organizations and the country of placement. The Central Asia Solidarity Groups will provide coverage for international and local transportation, accommodation, and a living allowance to cover the daily costs of living in Kyrgyzstan.
