On November 26th and 27th Centralasiengrupperna (CAG) is hosting the fourth annual Central Asia Days! This two-event will include seminars, lectures, discussions, and a movie screening, with activists and civil society members from Central Asia. Free admission.

14.00 – 16.00 Panel discussion Queer feminism and activism in Central Asia and expression of feminism in art and culture
The panel will be led by Zhanar Sekerbayeva, who comes from queer-feminist initiative “Feminita” based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Ruth Jenrbekova, who comes from Creolex cultural center, an organization based in Kazakhstan and serves the needs of translocal multitude-displaced, uncategorized and under-recognized quasi-diasporas with their nascent artistic languages.
17.00 – 19.00 Movie Screening “Grab and Run” at Zita Bio (Salong 2), Birger Jarlsgatan 37, Stockholm
Grab and Run is a newly-released movie by Roser Corella about Kyrgyzstan that gained its independence in 1991 and has been experiencing revival of Ala-Kachuu practice, which translates as “grab and run” – the practice of bride kidnapping. A big number of Kyrgyz women are married after being kidnapped by the men who become their husbands. Some escape after violent ordeals, but most are persuaded to stay by tradition and fear of scandal.

10.30 – 11.20 Lecture: Practices of torture in Tajikistan
The lecture will be led by Favziya Nazarova the director of public foundation Nota Bene based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Nota Bene is one of the first think tank organizations in the field of Human Rights and democratization in Tajikistan with the core goal to promote human Rights principles and development of civil society.
11.30- 13.25 Panel discussion: LGBT community in Central Asia: experiences and practices of activists
The panel will be led by Olga Malysheva, who is an editor, journalist and theater critic, as well as the author of “Community” play that tells the story of a couple from Kazakhstan, who fled their home country, and about their times in Swedish prison, where they waited for the decision on their permits to stay in Sweden. Other panel members are Oleg Ivanov, LGBT activist from Kazakhstan in Sweden, whose life events inspired the creation of “Community” play and Alex Khalykbergen, LGBT activist from Kazakhstan, who co-founded “Kaleidoskop”, LGBT-friendly community that aims to reach out to LGBT and LGBT allies in Kazakhstan.

The lecture will be led by Diana Mubarakshina, who will talk about her work with victims of forced labor in Russia at the Center of International Cooperation of the Red Cross in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
15.25 – 16.15 Lecture: Radicalization processes in Central Asia
The lecture will be led by Indira Aslanova, who is an assistant professor at the Religious Studies Department, Kyrgyz Russian Slavic University in Kyrgyzstan. She is also a member of the Public Supervisory Council under the State Committee of Religious Affairs as well as a coordinator of the research and analysis department in the Research Centre of Religious Studies, a nongovernmental organization that focuses on promoting religious and ethnic tolerance in the society through education.
