About Centralasiengrupperna

Central Asia Solidarity Groups (Centralasiengrupperna in Swedish) based in Malmö, has existed as a network since 2009 and registered as an non-governmental organization in 2012. Our work focuses on the Central Asian region, which includes the five republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The organization's initial focus was Kyrgyzstan, but since 2013 the focus has broadened and now encompasses projects and collaboration in the remaining countries in the region as well. We also have local projects and partnerships in Sweden.

Our overall aim is to encourage a democratic Central Asia with a strong, active, and inclusive civil society that contributes to the upholding of human rights, social justice and ecological principles. Based on this aim, we have chosen to work within the following four thematic areas:

  1. Democratic youth organizing
  2. Gender equality
  3. Environment and climate
  4. Security and resilience

Central Asia Solidarity Groups has the ambition to function as a platform for people who wish to engage in topics related to the region - if you are interested in becoming engaged within our work, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved! Please get in touch via [email protected]
