I’m very happy and excited to join the Central Asia Solidarity Groups! My journey started in November 2019 when I decided to apply for my first European Solidarity Corps placement. After several months I was lucky to receive a positive response, but unfortunately COVID-19 brought its own changes in our future plans.
I’m originally from Georgia, but have grown up in the Republic of Karelia, region in northwest Russia, bordering Finland. I’ve always been living in multicultural environments and would like to continue doing so. I love meeting new people, learn about their lives and backgrounds. I’ve traveled a lot while working with different international and regional projects.
While engaging in the work of civil society, my interest in the work of NGOs and how they work with development cooperation, and promote intercultural dialogue, has been growing ever since.
I did a short-term volunteering in Iceland for an organization that promotes nature protection, peace-oriented activities, and international dialogue. I believe that volunteering creates and contributes to the well-beign of local communities, as well as enriches you on individual level. It enriches you in so many ways!
I hope my stay at Central Asia Solidarity Groups will increase my knowledge about Central Asia and how trasnational solidarity work looks in practice. As for myself, I will apply my experience and knowledge in activities of the organization and its partners
Let’s stay in touch!
