Central Asia Solidarity Groups' aim is to promote a democratic Central Asia with a strong, active and inclusive civil society that contributes to human rights being respected and social justice achieved.
Central Asia Solidarity Groups (Centralasiengrupperna in Swedish) is a politically and religiously independent non-profit organization founded in 2012 with headquarters in Malmö, Sweden. Our geographical focus is on the region of Central Asia, meaning the five post-Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. We are the biggest organization in Sweden working with Central Asia. In addition to our work in Central Asia, we run several projects in Sweden and Russia.
Our core work consists of long-term solidarity collaboration, exchange programs, trainings and organizational development, in close partnership with civil society in Central Asia. At the moment, we primarily work within these four areas of activity: Democratic youth organizaing; Gender equality; Conflict Transformation; and Environment and climate.
Become a Member
Central Asia Solidarity Groups is a member-based organization that strives to grow as a movement and include more active members. By becoming a member of CAG you make it possible for us to support the struggle for human rights in post-Soviet Central Asia. As a member you voting rights at the annual meeting, a physical copy of the annual report, regular updates from our projects in the region, the opportunity to borrow literature from our library, invitations to various events and other exciting stuff!
The membership fee is paid by direct debit on a monthly basis, which is both convenient for you and a good solution for us since you contribute to our work in a sustainable way. CAG always used unbound resources - such as membership fees - for direct costs in our projects and partnerships in Central Asia, not administration in Sweden. The membership fee is a minimum 25 SEK per month. At this stage, it is unfortunately only possible to become a member if you have a Swedish bank account.
