(If there’s one thing I miss about Almaty its the view on the mountains 24/7)
My name is Ildana and I am a new intern for CAG. In this blog I would like to tell you a little bit about myself, what I am going to do at CAG and a fun fact about me to finish this blog post.
I come from Almaty, Kazakhstan and have a bachelors degree in Public Administration and Finance from KIMEP University. Throughout my studies I was an active member of one of the largest NGOs – AIESEC and went through the journey of being an intern in Turkey to the President of Almaty’s Local Committee. This experience helped me to realize that I want to dedicate my life working in the development sector and that is exactly how I ended up in Sweden.
I am currently a second year student at one of the most competitive Master programs in Sweden – International Development and Management (LUMID). During my first year, I have learned that development work consists of different fields and development from the social perspective has been the most attractive to me. Shortly it’s about improving the well-being of every individual in society so they can reach their full potential. My focus has always been post soviet region and Kazakhstan in particular. For this reason, I have also decided to do my internship at CAG as it is one of the few organizations in Sweden that focus on Central Asia.
During my stay at CAG (September – December), I will be helping with organization of study circle, analysis of current social issues in Kazakhstan and assisting with social media development and presence. I will use this blog to update you guys with what I have been up to and hope that you are as excited about it as I am. If you would like to ask any question to me feel free to drop a comment and I will be happy to respond. Also, as promised, fun fact about me – I love learning languages and after 9 months of my stay in Sweden I was able to land a part time job in a coffee shop and serve clients in Swedish only.
Until the next post!
